VACANCY: SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 09 OF 2025

Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees of Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs for the above mentioned position tenable in Okavango District Council. Only those applicants prepared to work in the District should apply.

Salary Scale: D4 (P255, 948 – P282, 120) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Qualification: Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering or related field.

Experience: At least eight (2) years relevant work experience as Structural Engineer II/I at C2/1 salary scale.

Requirements: Candidates must be registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and must attach proof of valid practicing certificate

Benefits:

• Optional Medical Aid Scheme, Government pays 50% and Employee 50%.
• Contributory Pension Scheme (Government contributes 15% and the employee contributes minimum 5%).

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To prepare structural working drawings for construction of building projects.

DUTIES:

1. Carries out assessment on existing buildings to determine their structural status and prescribe solutions.
2. Supervises construction works for both Couneil and private developments to ensure adherence to structural aspects.
3. Prepares structural technical specifications for construction of building projects.
4. Undertakes any other related duty as directed by management.
