DATA NETWORK OPERATIONS – LEAD ENGINEER – Orange Botswana

To design, manage and execute all Data Network operational activities within the ISP Core Network, IPT Network, Fixed Broadband customers, ISP Projects, provide technical inputs into the Department Strategic Plan and yearly budget planning.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

• To review high level solutions for concerned domains (ISP Core, IP Transport, Fixed customer) to enable optimal operations.
• To manage and ensures optimal operations of the ISP core network, IP Transport and Fixed Broadband customer network in accordance with the set SLA and OLAs.
• To validate solutions proposed by Engineers to ensure adherence to operational targets and security policies.
• To propose project implementation phases for ISP Core networks, plan upgrades & operational activities.
• To provide technical inputs on the department strategy formulations.
• To follow and manage the field implementation of ISP Core project delivery.
• To work closely with SMC/ Helpdesk, B2B Department to ensure the business operational targets and QoS targets are met.
• To advice Enterprise Team/ Business on VAS solutions that can be proposed to OBW Customers.
• To be the main point of contact for all data network related operations.
• To synchronize operational activities of Data Networks with internal & external stakeholders.
• To provide technical inputs on departmental strategy objectives.
• To benchmark on best in class ISP operations and regularly review Orange Botswana operations and propose actions to improve them.
• To draft and propose high Level processes/ solutions studies for concerned domain operations (ISP Core, IP Transport, Enterprise Networks, ETC).
• To work closely with Orange Group /affiliates on operational improvement solutions in order benefit from the already studied or tested solutions.
• To ensure operations processes are in place and develop or update necessary the processes when necessary.
• To ascertain that there is business continuity e.g. ensuring that there are regular redundancy tests within the ISP network.
• To assess solutions proposed by suppliers and adjust them in order to make them compliant with Orange Botswana operational objectives & customer needs.
• To work closely with Enterprise Solutions team to accept completed projects going into operations and document those projects).
• To support Data Network Engineers.
• To propose competencies and skill development initiatives for operational Engineers.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Computer Engineering /Telecommunications / Computer Science/IT.
• A Masters Degree would be an added advantage
• 5 years of experience in Data Management / Engineering
