DATA ENGINEER – Orange Botswana

To manage Orange Botswana Data Platforms and Applications. Ensure quality, availability and reliability of Data Platforms and Mediation solution. To perform daily operations, routine planned work and standby duties

The main duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensure the administration of the Data Platforms and Applications
• Ensure the processing of xDRS and provision of data for Reporting.
• Define Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms. Supporting businesses decision making with adequate tools and algorithms
• Provide to the company tools to improve profitability.
• Monitor the operation and implementation of mediation applications.
• Ensure quality, availability and continuity of service.
• Collect, analyse and interpret large datasets.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders using data visualization techniques.
• Collaborate with Business to understand their data needs and provide insights.
• Design and implement data strategies and solutions.
• Propose rapid solutions that make the difference with the competition
• Ensure availability and continuity of applications deployed on the Bigdata platform.
• Drive technological choice for APIs and Bigdata solutions.
• Definition of use cases with the business and implementation of visualization tools.
• Set up interfaces for the Bigdata cluster, centralize reporting.
• Technological monitoring around Bigdata and Fast data tools.
• Participate in customer experience improvement projects and other customer-oriented projects.
• Apply the security policy concerning platforms and data management.
• Staying updated with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.
• experimenting with new techniques and methodologies to improve data analysis processes.
• integrating machine learning models into production systems or applications.

Skills:

• Knowledge of one of the Hadoop distributions (Horton Works, Cloudera, MapR).
• Data Architect, Data Scientist.
• Good technical knowledge of database management systems and statistical tools.
• Perfect mastery of traditional BI tools.
• Mastery of software such as pig/hive, HBase, spark, python, R, java.
• Master tools such as: ELK, Zeppelin, Apache NiFi.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency with version control tools like Git.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools (Jenkins, Travis CI).

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Computer Engineering/ Data Engineering/ Computer Science
• A Masters Degree would be an added advantage
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Data Science/ Engineering
