Master Farmer Feeds (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for fully qualified and experienced Shift Miller at its Feed Mill, Nutri Feeds Botswana in Pilane.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setup and Maintain Machines by operating and ensuring the proper functioning of milling equipment.
• Ensure scheduled production maintenance are performed.
• Constantly checks the milling process to ensure it runs efficiently and that the correct grind size and product quality are achieved and giving updates in the relevant company media platform (WhatsApp group)
• Inspect Feed or Product Quality by checking for quality at various stages, ensuring that the feed meets safety and nutrition standards.
• Ensure regularly tests of feed samples to ensure they meet nutritional requirements and are safe for animal consumption.
• Maintain Hygiene/Housekeeping Standards by ensuring that the mill is kept clean and always sanitized, reducing the risk of contamination.
• Ensure the proper storage of raw materials or ingredients, inspecting them for quality and safety before milling.
• Tracks raw materials and finished products, ensuring that stocks are maintained efficiently to meet production needs.
• Conduct routine maintenance of milling equipment and machinery, including lubrication, cleaning, and basic repairs in liaison with the maintenance team.
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues in the equipment to prevent downtime and ensure smooth operation.
• Strictly adhere to safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment without compromise.
• Keeps accurate records of production outputs, machinery usage, maintenance, and feed formulation.
• Accurately communicate any operational shift reports, safety concerns and reports any equipment failures or quality issues or deviations.
• Attend and take part in operational meetings as and when required.
• Oversee and supervise employees, ensuring they follow safety protocols and assist in various stages of the milling process as well as ensure a disciplined workforce by implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to new staff or apprentices in proper milling procedures and safety practices.

• • • Assessing the efficiency of milling processes and suggesting improvements to increase productivity and quality.
    • Based on input, may adjust machines or processes to optimize output.
    • Looks for ways to reduce waste by reusing by-products or optimizing processes.
    • Implements eco-friendly practices in the milling process to reduce energy consumption or the environmental impact.

To qualify for the position, candidates will require the following:

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science and Technology or Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or equivalent from a recognised institution
• 3 years’ experience in FMCG environment and/or similar role
• Possess a valid driving licence
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Excellent Computer Literacy
• Document review and procedural writing experience
• Knowledge of desired ISO and GMP regulations
• Strong physical fitness and the ability to respond to emergency situations, if required.
