Job Purpose:

The incumbent will report to the Board and provide leadership in the execution of LEA’s strategy in alignment with the Authority’s mandate to ensure growth and sustainable SMME sector in Botswana. The position holder is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Authority, as well as, activating the SMME ecosystem to form impactful collaborations with other SMME development partners to achieve objectives of the Small Business Act.
They will therefore drive optimal stakeholder engagement and organisational performance as per the direction of the Board. This role oversees the core and support functions of the LEA.

The Job

The position will, inter alia, be responsible for the following;
• Providing strategic leadership and ensuring the existence of policies that enable effective execution of the mandate and strategic objectives.
• Driving execution of LEA’s corporate strategy.
• Leading implementation of policies aimed at attracting, developing and retaining talent, as well as, driving employee engagement and performance, in alignment with set strategic objectives.
• Promoting and facilitating entrepreneurial culture.
• Developing and maintaining effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including public. private, civic society and SMME development partners.
• Ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance within the organisation.
• Ensuring long term financial sustainability of the organisation.
• Acting as a catalyst for change and leading transformation within the organisation.
The person
The right candidate will possess the following:
• A Master’s Degree in Economics, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
• Membership of a professional and internationally recognised institute will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience at Executive Management level locally, regionally or internationally.
