VACANCY: PRINCIPAL PROJECT OFFICER -D3

Applications are invited from qualified citizens of Botswana for the position of Principal Project Officer Il tenable within the Ministry of Finance Headquarters, Corporate Services Department.

SALARY SCALE: D3 (P293,652- P323, 748) per annum

LEAVE: 30 working days per annum

BENEFITS:

a) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%6).
b) Contributory Pension (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5% of basic salary).

QUALICATIONS

i. Candidates must have at least a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution.
ii. Applicants should have registered with Quantity Surveyors Registration Council as a Professional Quantity Surveyor.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience in the Quantity Surveying (management construction project) of construction projects, two (2) years of which should have been served at D4 salary scale or an equivalent level in parastatals or private sector.

MAIN PURPORSE OF THE JOB

To scrutinise and evaluate building projects financial expenditure to ensure timely delivery of projects and adherence to budget.

DUTIES:

i. Scrutinise consultants’ payment claims and prepares draft payment certificates to facilitate payment to consultants.
ii. Take part in the evaluation and appointment of consultant quantity surveyors to be engaged by the Ministry of Finance to offer consultancy services. iii. Monitor consultants’ performance to ensure effective and efficient implementation of building projects and compliance to the term of reference. iv. Draw up draft contracts documents necessary for signatures by the Ministry of Finance and contractors/suppliers.
v. Produce final accounts for building projects at the end of the contract and make recommendations for final payment to contractor/ suppliers. vi. Compile and collate Bill of Quantities. vii. Identify and describe items of work (Taking-
off quantities) by translating architectural and engineering drawings into actual work to be done on site.
viii. Prepare and compile tender documents. ix. Prepare tender notice and invite bidders.
x. Undertake any other related duty as required to meet the exigencies of the service
