Fiducia Services invites applications for the position of Data Protection Officer (DPO). The successful candidate will oversee the organisation’s compliance with Botswana’s Data Protection Act and relevant privacy regulations. This role serves as the focal point for data protection, ensuring personal data is safeguarded, risks are managed, and data protection is integrated into operational processes across Fiducia and its administered pension funds. The position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

DUTIES

– Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data protection management framework and related policies for Fiducia and its administered funds.
– Ensure compliance with Botswana’s Data Protection Act, including advising management reviewing contracts and coordinating with departments to align practices with legal standards.
– Maintain the data processing register and conduct regular Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
– Investigate data breaches, manage response protocols, and ensure timely reporting to regulatory authorities.
– Act as the primary contact for data protection authorities and internal stakeholders on all privacy-related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
– Professional certification in Data Protection or Privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) is an added advantage.
– Demonstrated knowledge in Botswana’s Data Protection Act and international privacy standards.
