As we prepare to launch this exciting project, we are now looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our growing underground mining team
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
As a Jumbo Operator / Trainer, you will play a critical role in executing safe, productive drilling operations and guiding local team members in high-speed mechanised development. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you’ll be working with state-of-the-art equipment like the Sandvik DL421 or DL422, ensuring that work is done safely, efficiently, and in line with engineering plans.
Key Responsibilities
•Conduct safe and accurate drilling of development rounds to meet productivity targets (minimum of two 4.9m cuts per shift, including bolting, meshing, and boring).
•Assess and manage ground conditions, applying appropriate ground support methods.
•Interpret and execute mining instruction plans to precise design specifications.
•Coordinate closely with engineers, surveyors, and geologists to optimize development.
•Provide timely feedback on ground conditions and assist in planning blast timing.
•Maintain a hazard-free work area, especially around services and electrical installations.
•Work collaboratively with the training department to upskill local employees through hands-on mentorship.
What We’re Looking For
•5+ years of proven experience in high-speed, mechanised underground development.
•Consistent track record of developing 250+ metres per month.
•Strong understanding of underground ground control, mining methods, and operational safety.
•Skilled in operating Sandvik DL421 or DL422 Jumbos (or similar).
•Advanced communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
•A proactive, safety-first mindset with a passion for training and developing others.
