Vacancy

The Bank of Botswana invites applications from suitably qualified and self-driven citizens of Botswana to fill the BANK EXAMINER – INFORMATION SYSTEMS position in the Prudential Authority and Payments Oversight Department.

(a) Main purpose of the job

To conduct off-site surveillance and on-site examination of supervised financial institutions, with a specific focus on assessing inherent risk of information technology and adequacy of risk management systems and controls of IT environment.

(b) Duties of the job

Conduct off-site monitoring of IT infrastructure of supervised banks to identify potential risks that may affect operational resiliency and ensure compliance with relevant regulations;

Prepare IT Institutional Profiles and Risk Profiles, incorporating IT risk assessments and controls;

Prepare periodic analytical reports on assessment of IT risks, cybersecurity threats, and the effectiveness of IT controls to assess financial institutions’ adherence to prescribed and recommended supervisory requirements;

Conduct on-site examinations, focusing on IT systems and controls and document procedures, evidence, findings, and recommendations on IT risks and controls;

Provide expert advice on all IT-related matters; and

To be a liaison person with the Information and Communications Technology Department on all IT-related projects for the department.

(c) Job Requirements

A Bachelor degree in Business Information Systems/ Information Technology or business-related degree plus a recognised professional qualification such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) or Masters degree in Business Information Systems or Information Technology. Minimum 2 years experience in IT audit or risk management.

(d) Competencies

The most suitable candidate is expected to have the following skills: stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, interpersonal, flexibility and multi-tasking, presentation, critical and analytical, legal and regulatory compliance, policy implementation, risk assessment and analysis, interoperability and inter-connectedness of systems, banking and payments system developments and trends.

REMUNERATION

The Bank of Botswana offers commensurate package equivalent to market pay.
