Mechanical Engineer – Water Reticulation & Pumping Systems

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Mechanical Engineer with expertise in water reticulation and mechanical systems. The role focuses on the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical infrastructure; including pump stations, water treatment equipment, and pressure control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the installation of pumps, valves, and mechanical components for water supply systems.

• Conduct pressure and flow rate calculations to ensure efficient system design.

• Prepare mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications for tender and construction.

• Supervise and troubleshoot mechanical installations and commissioning.

• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults during and after construction.

• Develop maintenance plans and operational procedures for water-related mechanical systems.

• Liaise with electrical, civil, and instrumentation teams for integrated project delivery.

• Ensure compliance with mechanical engineering standards and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Registered or eligible for registration with a professional engineering body (e.g., ERB, ECSA).

• Minimum 15 years’ mechanical engineering experience, 2 years in water infrastructure, including pumps and treatment systems.

• Skilled in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and pump selection tools.

• Experience in pump station layout, equipment specification, and installation supervision.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites.

Desirable Attributes

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with water systems.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and project execution capability.

• Experience in energy efficiency and optimization of pumping systems is a plus.
