We are looking for a Business Unit Head to drive and expand sales of the diabetes portfolio across our Southern Africa region. You will be based in Botswana but manage sales and related activities in 13 countries in Southern Africa, frequent travel is expected. Your key stakeholders will include a regional office in Nairobi covering sub-Saharan Africa as well as regional offices in Europe and Middle East. Consequently, strong international experience is key to manage both internal and external stakeholders.
As BU Head you will be responsible for sales, strategy and allocation of resources optimally to achieve the unit’s sales and profit targets. The BU Head runs the sales activities of the organisation, including representing the organization to promote and sell its products to health care professionals, pharmacies, hospitals and other public institutions. Activities include developing and implementing sales strategies; identifying potential customers; managing existing customer relationships; sales activities; sales operations and administration. The BU Head is leading a team of nine people: One Sales Manager with six sales reps across the countries, a Key Account Manager and a Marketing Manager. The team is based across the countries in the Southern Africa region. Finally, the BU Head is responsible for upholding compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including all business ethics and compliance requirements.
Requirements
Experience from a multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer is required. You must also have proven experience from working across different countries and continents, navigating different cultural contexts and business environments and managing both local, international and intercontinental stakeholders. The candidate has experience in sales of diabetes related products as well as a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical value chain. You have experience in managing diverse teams with various different national and cultural backgrounds.
Furthermore you must have a proven track record of managing a P&L with sales across multiple countries in both private markets and tenders. You are experienced in managing credit and currency risk from a wide range of countries and customers and managing and optimising supply chains. Finally you can demonstrate relevant experience in managing compliance and business ethics in the pharmaceutical sector.
