VACANCY: GENERAL MANAGER

Mankwe Tented Retreat, an eco-conscious safari lodge on the edge of the Okavango Delta, is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee the operational and administrative management of the company.

This senior leadership role carries responsibility for lodge operations, guest services, human resources, financial performance, training, administration, assets, compliance, and environmental management. The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic leadership with a hands-on management style to ensure operational efficiency, profitability, and exceptional guest experiences in line with the company’s vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee lodge and office operations, including service delivery, assets, fleet, building, and maintenance.
• Lead HR functions: recruitment, staff development, appraisals, and succession planning.
• Manage budgets, CAPEX, financial performance, and cost control.
• Develop and implement training, SOPs, and operational standards.
• Maintain and improve guest experience, ensuring personalised and professional service.
• Supervise administrative functions, office staff, and database management.
• Oversee environmental sustainability and compliance with all legal and safety standards.
• Provide operational and administrative reports to senior management.

Candidate Profile

• Proven track record in general management within the hospitality or tourism industry.
• An appropriate tertiary qualification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
• Experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and project management.
• At least 5 years of lodge management experience.
• Knowledge of HR, training, and compliance procedures.
• Commitment to service excellence and sustainable operations.
• Ability to thrive in a remote bush environment while leading diverse team
