Main Purpose of the Job:
- To provide legal advice and services to protect the interest of the University and ensure that the University adheres to legal requirements and conducts I its business In accordance with sound legal practice and framework within the confines of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) Act and the University Statutes.
- To minimize potential legal challenges to activities of the University and potential litigation involving the University.
- To monitor compliance by University Faculties, Departments, Committees and other units to ensure conformity to legal requirements; to ensure the soundness of all contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
- To serve as Secretary to the University Council.
Qualifications and Experience Education
- A minimum of LIB Degree. A relevant Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
Professional/Technical:
- Registered to practice before the Courts of Botswana.
Experience
- A minimum of eight (8 years’ experience in legal Services at Management level specializing in contract law, civil litigation and legal drafting. Sound and proven work experience at Board or University Council level providing legal advice and company secretarial services b a must. At least three (3) years’ experience at the Director level would be an added advantage.
The position requires the following Competencies/Skills:

- High level conceptual and analytical ability is required.

- Meticulous and high attention to detail
- Sound communication skills and ability to demonstrate clear and effective two-way communication style with a wide range of people and situations.

- Must demonstrate a personal commitment to excellence
