VACANCY: PRINCIPAL URBAN PLANNER II- D3 – KASANE X1 POST

The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism’s overall goal is to develop and implement policies, strategies and programmes to provide leadership and professional guidance on all matters pertaining to the conservation and management of the country’s environment and its natural resources for sustainable development and tourism.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Botswana Citizens for the position in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism – Kasane/ Kazungula Development Project.

Salary Scale: D3 (P239,292 – P263,808 per annum)

LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Urban Planning, Urban and Regional Planning or Town Planning.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 8 years work experience in urban design. Demonstrable experience in urban design projects is required and must be included in a Design Portfolio. Additionally, you must have demonstrable experience in the use of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Sketch Up, Microsoft Powerpoint, Google Earth, Adobe InDesign and related design software. This must be demonstrated in the Design Portfolio.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Principal Planner will be responsible for the urban design component of the Kasane/Kazungula Redevelopment Project, graphical representation of spatial data, urban design analysis, precinct planning and tourism planning.

Key Performance Areas

• Project management of urban design projects including report construction, activity planning, sequencing, resource planning, cost estimation, project documentation
• Data collection & analysis of spatial data
• Develop preliminary spatial development framework
• Precinct planning
• Urban design analysis
• Graphical representation of    spatial data
• 3D Renderings
• Presentation of precinct data analysis and design intervention
• Preparation of development guidelines & standards
• Provide spatial planning advisory
• Develop sector plans and cost estimates
• Stakeholder liaison
• Risk management
• Time management
• Quality assurance
• Any other duties required to meet the exigencies of the service
