FACILITIES MANAGER – DATA CENTRE (5 YEAR CONTRACT)
Main Purpose of the Job:
The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and leadership of the Data Centre facilities. Responsibilities include the maintenance, repair, installation and operation of the facility as it pertains to electrical systems, mechanical systems, capacity planning, project management, customer buildouts, and all other aspects of data centre facility operation to achieve 100% uptime and 100% compliance with all customer SLAs.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor any construction activity and installations, in coordination with internal and external consultants, to ensure system design, installation and testing adhere to design objectives and enable operational standards. Witness testing of all facilities equipment during commissioning, operational and functional testing and validate sequence of operations. Be responsible for the receipt and safekeeping of all as-built and operational documentation.
- Manage the provisioning of data centre services including power and cooling, telco cross-connects, and raised floor services.
- Manage all client equipment deliveries and coordinate client colocations, including deployments, power circuit installations and connectivity requirements.
- Supervise the local engineering team to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, sequence of operations and maintenance standards to guarantee the execution of the Data Centre’s maintenance programme.
- Develop, implement and audit local standard operating procedures, sequence of operations and maintenance standards to comply with the Data Centre’s standards and Uptime Institute best practices.
- Supervise local change management processes including the review and approval of all Method Statements for maintenance and emergency repairs in coordination with onsite personnel, contractors and clients.
- Manage all maintenance and repair contracts to ensure compliance with maintenance standards and operational requirements meet SLA’s. Confirm all vendors are qualified and adhere to the Data Centre’s performance standards and scopes of work.
- Be responsible for timely execution of data centre services such as remote hands, client installations and service requests.
- Supervise security personnel and manage security systems including adherence to security policies and compliance programs.
- Act as primary technical and operational contact for Data Centre clients – both as the technical lead and local point of escalation during emergency events and day to day operations.
- Manage technical and operational incidents at the Data Centre, including the implementation of emergency response procedures, resource coordination, client communication, root-cause analysis and post-event remediation.
- Identify trends and analyse risks to articulate implications and impact to Data Centre operations. Track operational metrics and other data to provide Senior Management oversight and control for short term and long-term trend analysis.
- Identify process-based improvements that generate operational and financial efficiencies including the development and presentation of the business case for such improvements.
- Manage expenses and assist with all budgeting, forecasting and reporting requirements by providing capital and expense requirements and justifications.
- Support pre-sales process, including, but not limited to, conducting sales tours and reviewing lease proposals and lease agreements to confirm compliance with the Data Centre’s standards and requirements.
- Support various accreditation initiatives, including, but not limited to, Uptime Institute Management & Operations Certification, as may be required by the Data Centre.
- Maintain compliance with all local health & safety (i.e. OSHA) standards and national electrical and building codes.
- Manage and develop subordinates.
- Undertake any other operations related tasks as directed by the Line Manager from time to time.

- Strong quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills, with demonstrated ability to determine event root causes, performance shortfalls and required corrective actions.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Microsoft Project, CAD systems for maintaining Rack layouts
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM), and power metering systems.
