JOB SUMMARY
To source and implement IT systems that meet business requirements through engagement with the BotswanaPost business units to establish their requirements. To document and translate the business requirements into IT automated systems. To liaise with the IT Applications and Infrastructure Managers to ensure service delivery of the business systems and to oversee the effective management and monitoring of the core business systems. To develop Service Level Agreements with the various business units and ensure compliance to these agreements. To ensure existing and new systems are developed and modified to meet business requirements and management reporting.
The position directly reports to General Manager Information & Technology.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
- Advises on business issues relating to IT Service provision
- Provides expert knowledge to the business units regarding information needed from various systems
- Assist in the research, analysis, problems, and coordination of how business needs can be addressed using existing or new systems, as needed & Provides expert knowledge on how processes can be executed, guided also by the implementation of the systems
- Build a clear strategy on optimizing the use and enhancing the adoption of information systems (e.g. AAS Dynamics 365) and other MIS data
- Actively participates in the software development, testing and implementation of new systems, databases, and applications
- Engages and advises at all levels on the organization regarding system changes and problems
- Ensures that all new projects and changes adhere to the Software and Product Development Life Cycles
- Manages and controls day-to-day alignment of the IT environment to business expectations & Integration of business systems to produce business intelligence
- Participates in and contributes towards the development of IT Road Maps and medium to long term (3 to 5 years) Strategic Plan for the IT unit
- To ensure business requirements are adequately addressed through the provision of internal software applications or interfaces to 3rd party applications
- Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
- Assists in the designs and development of data information reports that are required by business function
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and or technology industry specific professional qualifications on cloud technologies, programming languages and Agile
Experience:
- At least 6 years’ technology experience in an IT support environment, 4 of which in a technical role that has a multitude of business and technical demands. 2year experience as team lead.
Competencies:
Extensive experience with Agile software practices and software development lifecycle methodologies
- Strong organization, management, and coordination skills
- Strong analytical capacity, able to address complex challenges and contexts
- Creative thinker with entrepreneurial spirit for bold innovation and high-impact enterprise solutions
- Microservices patterns and modern architectural patterns e.g. messaging, ESBs
- Understanding of systems automation, continuous integration, deployments and implementation
- Knowledge of end-to-end implementation of solutions using CI/CD processes
- Multi -system integration using industry standards and tools such as REST, API, OAuth, JWT, Swagger, YAML
- Experience in building and integrating to real-time systems for financial services 4TAbility to use reporting tools e.g., SSRS, Crystal Reports etc.
- Strong knowledge on cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
