JOB SUMMARY
To manage all BotswanaPost postal and logistics network within set standards and in line with expected targets ensuring world class processing and distribution techniques are embraced through the use of ICTs to the satisfaction of our customers. The successful candidate will be the custodian of public postal processes and standards for inbound, outbound and national postal products as well as Commercial postal products.
The position directly reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
- Contributes to formulation of the Operations Department’s business plans, budgets, and operating plans and resource allocation
- Ensures execution of strategic and operational plans St budgets within postal and logistics services, sets targets, develops key performance indicators, monitors St reviews both postal and logistics services, ensuring set productivity performance and taking corrective action.
- Carries out other people management functions including recruitment, career and succession planning, training, and development etc.
- Designs, implements and manages the Processing Operating Systems with associated reports
- (MIS)
- Configures, implements and continually enhances the end-to-end process, ensuring optimal use of technology and compliance with standards and conventions
- Contributes to continuous departmental performance improvement and change management initiatives
- Briefs the team on current values, policies and procedures, and unit objectives, and obtains staff feedback for improvement and/or management information
- Implements and upholds the use of technology, to ensure high standards of data quality, effective and productive management information
- Establishes and implements sustainable performance and continuous improvement strategies for the Mail Processing Unit
- Stays abreast with Commercial and Public Postal processing developments, as well as changes in regulatory and/or legislative issues, and disseminates information to staff and leadership teams as relevant
- Manages internal and external SLAs with other areas of the business as well as with key Service Providers
- Coordinates the design and management of Equipment Maintenance St Disaster Recovery Plans and Contracts
- Designs and manages implementation of relevant internal controls within the Processing process
- Ensures compliance with legal, safety, health and environmental requirements at all times
- Ensures efficient management 6t control of the Unit’s resources in accordance with stipulations of the fraud prevention and risk management principles, legislation, company policies, processes, regulations, etc
- Be abreast with governance principles in relation to postal and commercial services and develops and enhance governance instruments.
- Participates in regional and continental postal conferences and implements postal initiatives in line with strategies in place
- Liaison with regional, continental, and global designated operators for continuous improvements on postal operations
- Ensures effective and efficient Courier, Freight, and Warehousing service provision and manages client and customer relationships.
- Produces periodic corporate reports on the status of service provision, governance and strategic performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent. A post graduate qualification will be an added advantage
Experience:
- 5-7 years’ experience in a similar environment at senior management level.
