JOB SUMMARY
To oversee the support, design, implementations, and management of the BotswanaPost financial systems with a strong focus on the databases, Business Intelligence (BI) technologies and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
To ensure that the monitoring, performance and continuity of the databases and financial systems is fit for purpose.
To ensure systems availability and data integrity in the different business systems through efficient use of technology.
The incumbent will gather requirements, amend, develops and supports reporting on financial and business systems including third party reports.
The incumbent also makes relevant changes to the system to cater for the reporting requirements and also takes part in system configurations. This also includes addition of new services.
The position directly reports to the IT Services & Systems Manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the different business areas to understand, document business needs and functional requirements.
Monitors, performs and manages parameters to provide fast responses to the users. Recommends and implements solutions by defining physical structures, functional features, database security, database back-up and recovery specifications. - Ensures service continuity with regards to databases in accordance with such policies as the backup policy.
Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and data definitions (metadata). - Capacity planning.
- Controls, reviews audits permissions and privileges to the databases.
- Commissioning and installing new applications and customizing them in order to make them fit for purpose.
- Assist in the research, analysis, problems, and coordination of how business needs can be addressed using existing or new systems, as needed.
- Provides expert knowledge on how processes can be executed guided also by the implementation of the systems.
- Build a clear strategy on optimising the use and enhancing the adoption of information systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 and PowerBI) and other MIS data.
- Receive requests from the business for service or problem resolutions.
- Engages and advises at all levels on the organisation regarding system changes and problems. Actively participates in the software development, testing and implementation of new systems, databases and applications.
- Generate, receive, and review computer produced output, verifying for completeness and accuracy, consulting with other functions or suppliers as necessary, and initiating corrections when required.
- Overall support of financial systems.
- Works with IT project managers, developers, business users for the efficient delivery of software solutions.
- Ensures continued knowledge by attending workshops, certifications and benchmarking. Works closely with the business areas to understand and document data warehouse requirements and data marts.
- Designs, develops and implements BI Systems and software.
- Manages integration between different systems at the database level.
- Develops, designs and implements BI Reports and systems.
- Lead the design and development of Analytics as a Service for the different business areas; Act as an escalation point for the business in the absence of the Manager.
- Install, test and audit hardware and software systems and configure the computers to ensure effective and secure systems.
- Provide and maintain detailed backup and recovery procedures by ensuring that daily and monthly backups on supported applications and databases are performed.
- Ensure SLA’s are followed and met, through the monitoring and reporting of targets, and the undertaking of corrective action where necessary.
- Ensure all current IT systems are operating effectively.
- Ensure that documentation of server configurations, local area networks and any changes to the configuration/network design is carried out.
- Ensure the highest level of system availability and performance is achieved through measurement and proactive initiatives.
- Regular monitoring of all outstanding faults and liaison with the services providers regarding the faults and provide reports on a regular basis on network and bandwidth utilization.
Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an IT Support Environment, 3 of which was focused primarily on Database Administration and Business Intelligence, at supervisory/management level.

- Financial Systems e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dynamics 365 Business Central Backup and Service continuity (Primary)
- Experience upgrading D365 F&O environments.
- Experience with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and related Microsoft tools such as Power Pivot Experience in MS Visual Studio is preferred
