SALARY: D3 (P279, 660 – P308, 328)
LEAVE: 30 Working Days Per Annum

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a minimum of a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology or Master of Education in Educational
Psychology/ Master’s Degree in Psychometric or Masters of Psychology (MSc) and should have registered with Botswana Health
Professional Council.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of eight (8) years of post-qualification relevant work experience of which two (2) years should have been served at
D4 salary scale in the Public Service or equivalent position and duties in the private or Parastatals organizations.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, manage, coordinate and deliver psychological assessments and interventions for children and youth with learning
problems, psychosocial problems, and other psychological-related disorders at all levels of education.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Conducts comprehensive and professional diagnostic psychological assessments to help come up with appropriate
diagnoses and determine the eligibility for special support services.
Provides professional expertise in the placement of learners with special needs in appropriate and relevant educational
institutions.Compiles professional individualized assessment reports to guide in the implementation of the intervention and
support strategies.Provides diverse psychological interventions including play and family therapy, cognitive behavioural
therapy, counselling, and life skills to effect positive change in learning, behaviour and development. Coordinates and
supervises the operational and professional activities of the Central Resource Centre and crafts performance goals for the unit.
Undertakes client follow-ups to offer a consultative and advisory service that is responsive and flexible to the client’s
educational needs within schools, stimulation centres and other educational institutions.
Conducts assessment of candidates with special educational needs and guides Botswana Examination Council on
appropriate access arrangements and special considerations for national examinations.
Capacitate parents, rehabilitation officers, Teachers and non-governmental personnel for effective support of learners with
special educational needs.
Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by management to meet the exigencies of the service.
