PRODUCTION MANAGER WANTED FOR LARGE SCALE AGRIBUSINESS

The Hurvitz Group is into large scale horticulture production under centre pivot, sprinklers and drip irrigation in the open field or under shade nets or plastic tunnels. Hence, we are looking for 1 x Production Manager to manage and expand the venture. The successful candidate will have a BSc. Honours Degree or better in Agriculture (Crop Production or Agricultural Economics specialization) or equivalent qualification from a recognized university and traceable extensive hands on in crop production. In addition, the successful candidate will have extensive expertise and experience in:

• Minimum 5 years’ large scale horticulture experience with emphasises on carrots, tomatoes, butternuts, onions, beetroot, peppers, watermelon, and brassicas.
• Extensive knowledge of irrigation including drip, centre pivot, and overhead
• Extensive knowledge of fertigation, pesticides, and herbicides
• Experience with agricultural engineering especially irrigation and machinery
• Capacity to draft cropping plans that meet crop rotations requirements and customers’ needs.
• Experience in marketing of perishable crops
• Traceable experience in handling large labour force
• Knowledge of horticulture structures especially shade-nets, plastic tunnels
• Knowledge in budgeting and control of expenses
• Appreciation of cashflow management dynamics
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Team player
• Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, Internet etc.
