Marung Development Services (PTY) Ltd (MDS) is a Botswana Registered Company that is 100% citizen owned and offers a wide range of products and services of the highest quality to the Mining industry. Such services include operational drilling and blasting as contractors, mining technical support and consultancy services, as well as supply and service of drilling consumables (GET) and rock breaker GET service and repair.
MDS are currently in their second year of a four-year Drilling and Blasting Contract with Lucara Botswana, and we are currently seeking an experienced, self-starting, goal-oriented, and successful Mining professional to fill the role of Business Development Manager. As a Business Development Manager, your objective is to build rapport with our current and new customers and to increase business potential as well as to- bring in new business.
The ideal candidate will build a pipeline of project opportunities that provide for new customer relationships and assist in managing existing key customer partnerships for long-term business growth and success.

Responsibilities
- Develop new business accounts and expand existing customer relationships to secure major Mining contracts, particularly in Drilling and Blasting.
- Utilize strategic account planning and sale pipeline management tools to secure new business.
- Follow a proven sales process that includes prospecting, qualifying, targeting, identifying customer needs, developing value propositions, presenting solutions and alternatives, and closing the business deal.
- Pursue future Mining project opportunities and prospects.
- Continuously grow and develop your skills to lead project teams in securing high-end deals with executive-level managers and buyers of large corporations and agencies.
- Maintain knowledge of marketplace issues, industry trends, competitive information, customer expectations, public policy, and other market drivers.
- Participates in industry and community-basedorganizational events to promote the image of the company.
Requirements
- Mining Degree or related field, with Business Management experience.
- Proven track record in developing business and long-term client relations.
- 10 – 15 years of Mining experience, of which 2 years is in Senior Management.
- Business Development/Commercial Management experience.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams to complete a business deal from Tendering to Execution.
- Ability to quickly establish relationships with executive-level managers and buyers of large corporations and agencies based on credibility, value, and trust.
- Formal sales training and experience with client management are an added advantage.
- Membership in the relevant Professional Institutions (ERB, BIE, ISMME, etc.).
- Should be prepared for overnight travel to conferences and meetings as needed.
- Blasting License for both Open pit as well as Underground operations.
- Valid Class-B driver’s license.
