Degree in Environmental Health . Masters degree is an added advantage.
Experience: At least 12 years relevant work experience, 2 of which must have been at D2 or equivalent in a related field.
Benefits:
(i) Contributory Pension Fund Scheme, government contributes 15% and employee contributes minimum 5%.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, manage and coordinate functions of the Environmental Health, Primary Health Care.
DUTIES:
• Provides strategic leadership and direction for the achievement of the
Department’s mandate.
• Manages, supervises and coordinates the functions and programs of the Public Health Department.
• Coordinates the implementation of health statutes including Waste Management Act, Public Health Act and Regulations, Food Act and Labeling Regulations, Smoking control Act, and ensures compliance with International Conventions at district level.
• Reviews and assesses existing policies and makes recommendations as necessary to the Chief Executive and external stakeholders.
• Prepares and monitors recurrent and capital budget for the operations of the department.
• Prepares short and long term development plans in collaboration with the Department of Finance and Development Planning for effective implementations of the development functions of the department.
• Supervises and guides the provision, performance and development of the staff of the Department.
• Develops skills inventory for the Department of Public Health and ensures that officers are trained to fill the skills gap.
• Represents Council in the deliberation of any health related forum involving or affecting Council and reports decisions and recommendations to the supervisor.
• Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.
