Area Manager – Botswana/Lesotho

The purpose of the position is to plan, direct and manage the operations of all relevant plants in the allocated geographical/industry specific area in order to deliver contractual requirements, provide value-add to the client, and continuously improve the service delivery in all aspects

  • Initiate and implement Contract Performace Adjustments as and when necessary
  • Evaluation of performance bonus allocations for operational staff
  • Compile budgets on an annual basis for the new financial year and manage accordingly on a monthly basis
  • Conduct periodical reviews on a quarterly basis to ensure potential savins against budget
  • Ensure customer service satisfaction based upon the value that is added to the client, over and above fulfilling the contractual obligations, on an on-going basis
  • Ensure that all plants adhere to prescribed engineering and processing standards at all times
  • Ensure that all plants adhere to applicable legal requirements at all times (legal appointments and legal prescriptions
  • Advise Plant Managers on operational activites
  • Ensure that new enquiries on existing projects are effectively analysed and the needs of the client addressed accordingly
  • Implement in liaison with the Human Capital Development Manager a mentoring and career development strategy in order to ensure the correct levels of competence at each plant
  • Ensure that all workforce promotions take place as per the Promotions Policy
  • Interface with local, regional and central Forums as required
  • Ensure that Plant Managers adhere to the principles of participative consultation and decision-making at all times
  • Communicate and provide feedback to local Forums on all areas of mutual interest on a monthly basis

 

  • Record and communicate success stories and report such achievements to EXCO
  • Ensure adherence to Social and Labour plans
  • Be accountable for Organsational Transformation
  • Establish a culture of Performance Management and ensure the utilisation of it in a fair and consistent manner
  • Take full ownership of own development

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, OR an Engineering diploma or BTech degree
  • A relevant Business Management qualification is advantageous
  • At least 10 years process/engineering technical experience on a process plant.
  • A minimu of 5 years experience as a Plant Manager
  • Experience in a Diamond Plant
  • Knowledge of Legal Compliance
