The Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA), is an autonomous body that has been established in terms of the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority Act no 14 of 2011. The Authority is charged with the responsibility of implementing four different acts, namely: The Companies Act, Registration of Business Names Act, Industrial Property Act and the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act.

The Authority is positioning itself for the advancement of its mandate and is searching for a dynamic individual to take up the following position reporting to the Registrar -Companies and Business Names.

Position title: Assistant Registrar, Records Search

Location: Gaborone Main purpose of the job

To manage the Companies and Business Name registries to ensure integrity of the information contained therein, including liaising with external stakeholders (e.g. law enforcement agents) as well as facilitating access to information contained in the registries.

Qualifications/ experience and knowledge required

Bachelor’s Degree in Records Management. Postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.

Eight (8) years’ post-qualification experience in the same field.

 

Key responsibilities

Develops records management strategic plan.

Designs, markets, implements, evaluates and renews records management programs and services.

Provides advice on awareness and importance of record keeping, legislation, policy issues, procedures.

emerging information, related developments and technical records management issues.

Utilises software to gain customer insights, identify client needs and expectations, and translates these trends into CIPA’s business/ operational client service strategy.

Coordinates the development and implementation of records solutions for CIPA including electronic records management system.

Prepares and submits reports to the Registrar Companies and Business Names on state of records for Companies and Business Names.

Leads the development of business strategies for sharing and availing information to the public, private and public institutions.
