BancABC – Head of Internal Audit – Botswana

As part of its growth strategy, the bank is looking for an experienced candidate with suitable technical competencies to take up the above opportunity.

Main responsibilities

To independently appraise and provide assurance over the effectiveness of the Bank’s internal control systems.

The objective being to assist management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by providing them with appropriate appraisals, analyses, information and recommendations on the areas being audited.

Main focus area
Review, examine and evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the Bank’s systems of Internal Controls and the manner in which management responsibilities are discharged and in particular;

Preparation and execution of audit plans that reect a risk based approach: identication of business risks, controls exercised by management for the purpose of validation and examination.

Reviewing the systems established to ensure compliance with plans, policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

Reviewing how the Bank safeguards its assets and verifying the existence of such assets

Determining whether operational results are consistent with established strategic objectives and goals.

Reviewing the reliability and integrity of nancial and operating information to ensure they conform to applicable standards.

To continuously communicate with external auditors on the internal audit plans in order to coordinate the work of internal auditors with that of external auditors.
To provide mentorship and coaching to internal audit staff and promote staff career development.

Minimum Education or Qualifications: 
The ideal candidate should posses a Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Auditing and a professional auditing qualification will be an added advantage.

Key Skills and Experience: 
Proven experience in Banking Audits from reputable banks/ institution will be an added advantage.
The ability to work under pressure is essential
