Job Summary
To coordinate emergency response services.

Minimum Requirements
• Diploma in General Nursing and relevant post basic qualification/advanced paramedics training
• 5 years’ post qualification experience in the relevant field and experience in emergency services.

Key Effectiveness Areas
• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls the expenditure within approved parameters
▪ implements the hospital emergency preparedness, response and recovery plan
• Manages the resuscitation and emergency equipment in the hospital, clinics, other emergency treatment areas
• Responds to emergency calls, assesses patients and makes critical care decisions
• Collaborates with other emergency response departments to ensure adequate joint emergency response interventions
▪ Liaise with external services providers for optimal transfer of patients between facilities
• Develops and coordinates the departmental emergency response training plan in liaison with section heads

• Trains health care providers on emergency response within scope of competence
• Triages emergency patients and takes appropriate action
▪ Manages emergency patients and takes appropriate action
• Responds and attends to crash calls within the hospital
• Reviews resuscitation Policies, Procedures and relevant tools in consultation with the Emergency Response Team

▪ Compiles monthly reports Including review and analysis of key data
▪ Identifies Risks and Hazards and manages the risk profile in the area of responsibility
▪ Manages appropriate supply and utilization of resources to meet the needs of patients

 

▪ Coordinates and monitors the implementation of safety, health and environmental programs in area of responsibility taking cognizance of all legal requirements
▪ Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
▪ Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve an sustain business performance
▪ Establishes and maintains Business Partner relationships with stakeholders to facilitate the optimal functioning of the emergency response section.
