Job Summary

To acquire and interpret geological data for effective service delivery in line with the MRM Code of Practice.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc (Hons) relevant degree/ BSc relevant degree + Postgraduate qualification
• Four (4) four years post-qualification experience, 2 (two) of which should have been in a Mining production environment.
• Supervisory Development Training
• Relevant Technical Training
• Kimberlite Geology

Key Activities

• Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives in to budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters
• Collects Geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical data through mapping, logging and sampling in line with MRM Standards
• Updates, modifies and creates 3D resource models using local specific modelling software
• Implements and ensures compliance to geology standards, quality control and assurance systems for alignment of Information Management Systems and technical processes to Geology Code of Practice.
• Updates dynamic resource models with interpreted geological information.
• Implements systems to monitor, update and publish ore/ country rock models for use by the business
• Carries out grade control in accordance with set procedures

• Provides technical input into the short term production plans for optimal grade and treatability plans, evaluates and approves short term plans for optimal resource exploitation
• Conducts detailed resource performance analysis
• Generates and reconciles the mineral resource status for input into the Resource and Reserve statement.
• Undertakes geological investigations and research studies aimed at improving performance of the Mine operation or improving understanding of the resource.
• Executes projects in line with set project management principles
• Identifies, coordinates and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate principles/ requirements in area of responsibility.

• Maintains an up to date functional database on geological information.
• Adhere to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility
• Implements the Departmental Talent Management initiatives through execution of development plans.
• Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
