JOB PURPOSE
To develop core business strategies in order to facilitate business developments for Botswana, whilst providing operational and personnel support to ensure the functionality and sustainability of the organisation in the Region as a whole.
JOB FUNCTION
Strategic Implementation
Assist in developing a cohesive Sales/Marketing and Product strategy , ensure the necessary competent product line support is in place for each product, ensure supply Chain Logistics support strategy, full expediting capability based in SA to chase up on all queries as part of team to manage, interface between territory and SA, ensure relevant policy formulation, development and implementation of strategy
People Management
Plan, select, develop and maintain manpower capabilities for the function as required by the operation
Operations Management
Identify and analyse trends, undertake regular site visits to facilitate problem solving and strengthen key relationships, identify new business/market opportunities, ensure appropriate, ethical and relevant procurement practices, conduct business viability assessments and assess recommendations for business expansion. Assets/stock management on all operational sites
Field Service Management
Successful implementation of Field Service Maintenance programme and achieving contractual KPI’s at the various mine sites as per requirement from the customer
Relationship and Interfaces
Build relationships at highest levels to ensure enduring business affiliations and management of all agreements
Financial Management
Develop funding proposals in line with strategic vision, complete financial reporting at least every quarter, assess budgetary requests, assess budget reconciliations on a monthly basis, investigate and probe any variances, approve discretionary additional funding where appropriate, compile legal and shareholder reports timely
Leadership
Establish, guide, direct and oversee the Region aligned with overall strategy and objectives, establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensure compliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements, meet principles of sound corporate governance and internationally accepted environmental, health safety and quality standards
Contracts Management
Long-term contract management on multiple mine sites
Supports annual pricing, adjustment of proposals and negotiations
QUALIFICATION
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgical/Mechanical Engineering
- Business Management would be advantageous
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 8 years’ experience in a senior management position in mining sector. Business development experience essential.
- Exposure to capital equipment such as Cyclones, Samplers, Spirals and consumable equipment such as screening media in the mining industry and project engineering fields. International/multinational exposure is required
- Relevant investment management knowledge, good understanding of economic infrastructure, relevant legislation, contract management, core business, financial and project management principles
- Strong problem solving, decision making, communication, negotiation, influencing and leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook)
