The Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and statutory obligations for Turnstar Holdings’ Botswana operations. The role ensures integrity of the trial balance, timely monthly reporting, IFRS compliance, tax compliance, and effective support of budgeting, audit, and Board reporting processes. This position reports directly to the Chief Finance Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger integrity and reconciliations.
- Review and approve journals.
- Prepare special journals (intercompany, tax, provisions).
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Support quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Provide financial inputs for Board packs.
- Provide weekly cash flow updates (bank balances).
- Prepare and file tax returns via BURS portal.
- Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act and statutory obligations.
- Maintain and continuously improve the internal control environment.
- Prepare audit schedules.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Support group consolidation reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Part-qualified CA (BICA/ICAEW/SAICA), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Strong internal controls and process improvement mindset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general ledger and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems, data-driven reporting tools, and advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel).
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
