About the Company

The Confederación Española de Derechas Autónomas was a short-lived, right-wing political party in the Second Spanish Republic. A Catholic force, it was the political heir to Ángel Herrera Oria's Acción Popular. Their political goal was replacing liberal democracy by a corporatist order. As such, they advocated for an authoritarian and corporatist State shaped after the Church's social doctrine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications and certifications are typically required for an Area Manager – CEDA role in Botswana?

A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is usually mandatory; many employers prefer a postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or a professional certification like ACCA, CIMA, or CA Botswana. Relevant experience in financial management, grant administration, or public sector development programmes—especially with institutions like CEDA or other Botswana government agencies—is highly valued.

What does a typical day look like for an Area Manager – CEDA in Botswana?

The role involves overseeing loan disbursement, monitoring SME portfolio performance, conducting field visits to assess business viability, and mentoring entrepreneurs across assigned districts. You’ll also prepare compliance reports for the Bank of Botswana and CEDA headquarters, coordinate with local stakeholders (e.g., DDCs, chambers of commerce), and ensure adherence to national financial inclusion policies.

How does Botswana’s work culture influence expectations for this role?

Respect for hierarchy, punctuality, and strong interpersonal communication—particularly in Setswana and English—are essential, especially when engaging with rural entrepreneurs and community leaders. Employers expect cultural sensitivity, integrity in handling public funds, and alignment with Botswana’s national values such as Botho and accountability in service delivery.

What career progression opportunities exist after serving as an Area Manager – CEDA?

Successful Area Managers often advance to senior roles such as Regional Director or Head of Lending at CEDA, or transition into leadership positions within other parastatals like BIDA or the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. Some pursue secondments to international development partners or move into private-sector financial services, leveraging their public-sector credibility and SME finance expertise.

What benefits can I realistically expect in this role in Botswana?

Standard benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, fully subsidised medical aid through a registered Botswana scheme (e.g., BMA or Medshield), and mandatory pension contributions under the Botswana National Pension Scheme. Some employers may offer housing allowances or transport support, particularly for postings in remote districts, but these vary by appointment terms and funding availability.

How do I apply, and what do employers in Botswana specifically look for in candidates?

Applications are submitted via CEDA’s official website or the Public Service Commission portal during advertised vacancies; shortlisted candidates undergo written tests, panel interviews, and sometimes practical assessments on financial analysis or stakeholder engagement. Employers prioritise proven experience in SME financing, familiarity with Botswana’s business regulatory environment (e.g., Companies Act, CEDA Act), and demonstrated ability to deliver results in resource-constrained, multi-lingual settings.
