THE JOB
Reporting to the Chief Executive officer, the position will be responsible for inter alia the following;
- Contributing to the development of the corporate strategy.
- Developing, managing and monitoring detailed business plans to ensure optimal resource utilisation in order to reduce costs, as well as, maximize return on investment.
- Ensuring the implementation of cost effective procedures for the management of the Government’s Strategic Grain Reserves (SGR) in compliances with SGR Agency Agreement.
- Carrying out detailed cost benefit studies to identify needs for subsidies required for maintaining non-profit making facilities needed to meet statutory non-commerce requirements.
- Recommending the use of agencies and lock up storage facilities to improve storage capacity
- Developing and monitoring departmental risk management plans to ensure that all risks, are identified and addressed through internal controls.
- Managing the departmental annual budget to ensure prudent management of financial resources.
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of the sales strategy and coordinating the preparation of sales reports and statistics and liaising with finance department on debtor related issues and credit matters.
- Developing and implementing strategy, systems, plans and processes to enhance, procurement management, inventory management and ultimately ensure stock availability and cost reduction.
- Negotiating contracts with domestic, regional and international suppliers and motoring adherence to contract agreements and specifications.
- Ensuring effective implementation of the performance management system in the department.
- Developing, reviewing, implementing and managing departmental Quality Management System (QMS) to enhance product & service quality.
THE PERSON
- Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Strategic Management, or equivalent.
- At least 8 years post qualification experience, three (3) years of which should have been spent in a managerial role in either grain storage management, food science, sales, or warehousing and distribution.
- Any relevant professional membership would be desirable.
