Part-Time Tutors in the Certificate for Distance Education Practitioners Programme

Botswana Open University requires qualified duty-conscious persons to join the University as Part-Time Tutors in the Certificate for Distance Education Practitioners Programme.

Responsibilities

Appointed tutors will be expected to perform the following functions:

• Provide subject-specific knowledge and tutoring expertise to students
• Prepare and deliver online tutorials in accordance with the University’s quality standards and guidelines
• Mark students’ assignments and provide timely and detailed feedback within two weeks
• Guide students in the discussion forums and related learning activities.
• Motivate and support students with the aim of facilitating learning.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Adult Education, Distance Education, Educational Technology, or other related degrees. For the Course Financing Distance Education, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or related fields.

Experience

• At least two years’ teaching experience in a tertiary institution.
• Experience in Open and Distance Learning
• Computer knowledge and the ability to teach online

Requirement

Courses to be taught

The tutors will be expected to teach one or more of the following courses:

• Adult Education and Adult Learners
• Introduction to Distance Education
• Distance Education Materials
• Learner Support Services
• Management and Administration of Distance Education
• Research in Distance Education
• Finance in Distance Education
