THE ROLE
The role will be reporting to the Territory Manager and based in Maun. The purpose of the role is to manage general operations within the region to drive profitability, grow sales, manage accounts, and manage customer relations.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control the sales and accounts of several customers serviced in the region. Identify and resolve account issues.
- Produce and implement an area business plan per customer to grow the business, in consultation with the various stakeholders.
- Build partnerships with customers at all levels of management.
- Network with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Advise customers and provide input into customer business plans
- Continuously liaise with customers on all relevant operational issues. Attend to matters that have been escalated
- Contribute to the forecasting of sales and set sales targets for the region.
- Monitor and control expenditure for the region, as per the approved budget.
- Monitor the sale of products and ensure that this is within an acceptable profit margin and cost of sales to ensure cost efficiencies and profitability.
- Maintain and/or improve the market through monitoring of sales and engagement with customers.
- Identify additional sales and introduce new ideas, products, etc.
- Keep up-to-date on product knowledge to increase the scope of application of equipment and subsequent sales.
- Promote the company image regarding quality service excellence and integrity at all times.
- Provide feedback to product departments, i.e., accurate feedback in respect of equipment needs.
- Develop a marketing strategy for the region inclusive of: Understanding equipment and products that are available in the region; Understanding of competitors’ products and pricing; Performing market analyses and determining market share.
- Manage forecasting and stock accuracy to support sales in the region.
- Manage logistical efficiencies to get products to customers on time.
- Maintain existing relationships with customers at all levels:
- Liaise and negotiate with customers on pricing and logistical requirements;
- Maintain sound customer relationships, including conducting site visits;
- Analyse and keep updated on existing and new products to ensure effective utilization therein.
- Identify new clients and understand product requirements to advise on solutions going forward.
- Develop an information network to keep abreast of competitors’ products and performance.
- Identify in advance the correct stock holding to grow existing and new business.
- Promote the image of the company to align with sound governance practices.
- Negotiate pricing structure with the customer
- Prepare the budget for the region and monitor and report on expenditure against the approved budget.
- Manage the audit process within the region, providing the necessary information to the relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and control the store/warehouse, inclusive of: o Stock control o Compliance with safety and health policy and procedures o Maintenance of the image of the branch o Filing system and safeguarding of documentation.
- Produce bi-weekly and monthly reports on the region, or as and when required.
- Control the management of the branch in a financially sound manner and identify, implement and maintain adequate internal controls.
- Manage the recruitment of subordinates in accordance with HR policy and procedures.
- Manage performance of subordinates through the development of performance agreements and conduct performance reviews.
- Create learning opportunities for subordinates through the identification of areas for development, coaching and recommending formal functional training when required.

Requirements
- Degree/ Diploma in Mining Engineering
- Formal qualification in business, mining and/or engineering
- Mandarin & English language proficiency
- Basic Computer Literacy
- Mine Overseer certificate of competence will be advantageous
- Knowledge of Sandvik products and/or services and their applications will be an added advantage
- A valid driver’s license
- High sense of identifying and delivering value.
