Role Purpose (Job Summary)
The Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities. This role involves understanding client needs, promoting insurance products, and building long-term relationships to achieve revenue targets. To manage, develop and grow the business, with a key element in retain existing business, up selling and cross Selling.
Key Responsibilities
- Align with Kgare guiding principles and way of doing business.
- Identify and research potential clients through various channels, including industry events, referrals, and market analysis.
- Generate leads and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand clients’ insurance requirements.
- Present and explain insurance products and services to clients.
- Tailor insurance solutions to meet the specific needs of individual clients or businesses.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on insurance products and risk management.
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
- Cross-sell additional insurance products to existing clients.

- Work closely with underwriters and other internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery to clients.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Insurance& Risk Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications in insurance (Minimum qualification of COP) AIISA is an added advantage
- Proven experience in business development and sales, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of non-life insurance products and industry regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Results-driven with a focus on achieving and exceeding targets
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum of 3 years in sales and business development experience, preferably in Insurance Broking
