Okavango District Council (Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs). BYE LAW ENFORCEMENT SUPERINTENDENT. Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees of Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs for the above mentioned position tenable in Okavango District Council. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates investigations of cases involving violation of Bye Laws and delegated legislation and takes appropriate action.
  • Liaises with relevant stakeholders to arrest suspects for violation of Council Bye Laws.
  • Liaises with relevant stakeholders to prosecute suspects for violation of Bye Laws.
  • Manages fines imposed on violators.
  • Conducts inspection of formal and informal business sector with a view to take appropriate action.
  • Searches suspects with or without warrant.
  • Conducts joint operations with other law enforcement agencies.
  • Conducts routine patrols.
  • Prepares and monitors the service of court documents (summons, subpoena, eviction orders).
  • Gives evidence in court.
  • Educates the community on the requirements and implications of the bye laws.
  • Conducts research on matters concerning Bye Laws and delegated legislation.
  • Prepares draft proposal of new Bye Laws.
  • Guides in the disposal of confiscated and unserviceable goods.
  • Manages inspection of exhibits, ease register, and verify all entries in the Occurrence Book.
  • Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Qualification: Diploma in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Experience: At least eight (8) years relevant work experience of which two (2) should have been served as Chief Bye Law Technician at D4 salary scale.
