WHIPTAIL INVESTMENTS PROPRIETARY LIMITED Plot 42794, Phase 1, Phakalane, Gaborone CASHIER Role Purpose The Cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions efficiently and courteously, ensuring accuracy in cash management, and supporting the smooth operation of the butcher/shop.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer basic inquiries about products, prices, and promotions.
- Handle customer complaints or refer them to the supervisor.
- Operate the cash register and point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Process payments (cash, card, mobile money) and issue receipts and ensure correct change is given.
- Balance cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Promote special offers and upsell products when appropriate.
- Assist with packaging meat and shop products if required.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness at the cashier station.
- Follow company policies on cash handling and customer service.
- Adhere to hygiene and safety standards in the shop.
- Report discrepancies, shortages, or suspicious activities immediately.
Requirements
- Minimum of Form 5 / High School Certificate.
- Prior experience as a cashier or in retail is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of meat products and shop items preferred.
- Strong numerical and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain accuracy.
