CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

SPEDU, a company mandated to drive economic development, industrial diversification and investment attraction within the SPEDU Region, is seeking to appoint a dynamic and visionary leader to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership in the positioning of the SPEDU Region as a competitive investment destination. The role will drive economic diversification, stakeholder engagement, organisational performance and the development of sustainable industries, aligned with national and regional priorities.

The Job

The position will, inter alia, be responsible for the following:

• Directing the development and implementation of an investment and Marketing strategy for the SPEDU Region, by unlocking sector value proposition for priority areas.

• Leading SPEDU’s economic development, investment attraction and regional diversification mandate.

• Developing key value chain processes by implementing and monitoring process execution activities.

• Unlocking the value chain of all priority sectors within the Region and ensuring that there is a strategic map in place to facilitate such.

• Directing the undertaking of studies to gauge the feasibility of diverse activities; the needs of different stakeholders and the impwwacts of economic development interventions in the Region.

• Facilitating SPEDU clients/investors to access the “One Stop Shop Service”.

• Developing and promoting a strong investment value proposition across priority sectors.

• Overseeing regulatory, governance and management processes that enhance ease of doing business.

• Guiding feasibility studies, research and strategic planning to support regional growth.

• Strengthening stakeholder and investor relations, including facilitation of the utilisation of the “One Stop Shop Service”.

• Providing leadership that fosters high performance, teamwork and organisational cohesion.

• Leading human capital development, performance management and succession planning.

The Person

The right candidate will possess the following:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, or equivalent, plus a Master’s Degree in Business Management, Economics, or related field.

• At least fifteen (15) years’ experience, including a minimum of 3 years at Executive Management level.

• Demonstrated experience in economic development, investment attraction, industry development or related fields.

• Strong understanding of regional economic development best practices, Government policy frameworks, national development strategies and private-sector dynamics.
