The Chief Flight Instructor is responsible for Planning and coordinating flight training activities and taking any reasonable action required to ensure the safety and compliance of all flight training activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that each dual and solo training flight is authorised by the holder of an appropriate and valid flight Instructor rating or a person appointed by the Chief Flying Instructor for the specific flight or sequence required by these regulations.
- Ensuring that all authorisations are properly entered in the appropriate flight authorisation book.
- Ensuring that the flight authorisation book is correctly completed before each dual and solo flight
- Ensuring that each solo training flight is personally supervised by the holder of an appropriate and valid flight Instructor rating or a person appointed by the Chief Flying Instructor.
- Ensure the maintenance of flying discipline;
- Ensuring that the aircraft is equipped in accordance with CARs
- Ensuring that the standard of ground instruction given is complied with the standards required for the license to be obtained.
- Ensuring that a training record of each Trainee or pilot trained is properly maintained.
- On behalf of the Head of training, ensure the standardisation of all flight training by:
- Carrying out regular flight and ground checks on all active and qualified flight and ground instructors and course facilitators in order to determine their level of competency and uniformity of standardisation.
Requirements
- Flight Instructor license and or
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a ground instructor in an ATO.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic aviation training environment.
- Proficiency in aviation training software and technology.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Knowledge of BCAR’s and industry best practices in aviation training will be an added advantage.
