Kanye District Council (under MLG&TA – Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development). Position tenable in Kanye District Council for suitably qualified Citizens of Botswana. The Clerk of Works will ensure quality assurance and oversee the delivery of construction project working in accordance with the Council requirements. To provide full time day to day inspection and supervision of the construction works on behalf of the Contract management team and submit regular progress reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily construction activities to ensure work is done according to the drawings, bills of quantities, specifications and according to the construction program
- Carry out inspections on site and monitor construction progress, quality of work in accordance with the Contractor Method Statement and health and Safety Plan
- Oversee sampling of materials for testing by the Contractor and interpreted material test results after analysis by the Council Project Manager
- Highlight any potential design changes and specifications encountered and bring them to the attention of the Council Project Manager
- Compile records of the works, minutes of site meetings, material test results, site instructions issued and correspondences for the project
- Monitor and ensure Contractor record the daily site dairy such as Contractors resources such as personnel, plant and equipment, weather records and visitors on site
- Produce site reports and submit to Project Manager
- Attend all site meetings in conjunction with the Project Manager
- Receive, record, present for Architect approval, and maintain custody of samples submitted by the Contractor.
- Carryout any other duties as assigned by Council
Requirements
- Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience in building Construction or related
- Registered with ERB/ARC and valid practicing license
- Drivers license class B with at least two years of driving experience
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other codes relevant for construction
- Knowledge of construction materials and building technology
