Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) is the first research intensive university established by the Government of Botswana and is committed to both fundamental and applied research with particular emphasis on the economy of Botswana. A key strategy of the University is to build strong partnerships with a number of world-class Universities together with a host of regional, national and international public and private sector enterprises. The campus is located in Palapye, a fast-growing town with hotels, a power station, banking facilities and several industries. The current leadership team is made up of an exceptional talented group of individuals recruited from both local and international markets. To complement this “spirited” team and reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor, the University is seeking to identify a leader for the Teaching and Learning Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership and oversight on the Academic Wing
  • Member of the Executive Team of the University and the University’s Chief Academic Officer responsible for all academic-related affairs
  • Manage and promote the development of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology into an internationally recognised teaching and research institution
  • Provide support services in terms of academic administration and financial management to all Deans of Faculties, schools and Centre for Learning & Entrepreneurship
  • Advocate for all faculties and is responsible for oversight of all academic policies, direction, programs and the services that support it
  • Collaboratively work with other key administrative leaders to focus on resources toward achievement of the established strategic objectives and development which aims at supporting the University’s high-class academic program, enrollment, retention and student success

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years as a Full Professor with experience in Teaching, Research, Administration, Innovation and Fund Raising
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Senior Administrative role (at the level of Dean or above)
  • Doctorate Degree in a Science, Engineering or Technology discipline from an accredited or recognized University
  • Strong academic credentials attested by a full professorship in a similar institution as well as an excellent record of scholarship, teaching and service
