Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose heavy-duty vehicle faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
- Service heavy-duty vehicles; caterpillars, tractors, and excavators.
- Engine overhauls and manual gearbox overhauls.
- Repair and replace defective parts in vehicles.
- Investigating faults using special mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Carrying out warranty repairs according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Stripping, fitting, and replacing components on vehicles.
- After service maintenance.
- Performs tune-ups on county vehicles routinely as needed.
- Order parts as needed to maintain stock;
Requirements
- Must have sound management skills and work ethics.
- Safety skills, processes, and analysis.
- Technical Skills: Heavy equipment mechanics will need to be familiar with electronics, be able to read blueprints, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs.
- Strength: Heavy is in the name of the job. Some equipment can be extremely heavy and will take a lot of strength to move or manipulate.
