SPEDU is a Company wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Botswana, under the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship whose mandate is to facilitate and coordinate economic development projects and regeneration of the SPEDU Region. The Company promotes inward investment and trade facilitation in the Region. In particular, SPEDU is currently focusing on investment promotion, and is seeking to promote the establishment and growth of enterprises mainly in Manufacturing, Tourism, Agri-business and other business development initiatives. SPEDU is seeking to recruit suitably qualified, dynamic, talented and experienced individuals to join their team in the following positions in order to contribute towards the advancement and economic prosperity of the SPEDU Region: DIRECTOR: CORPORATE SERVICES – SPEDU REGION. This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the organisation’s administration, human resources, industrial relations, information technology, and finance functions. The role ensures that the organisation operates on a sound governance, financial, and administrative footing, with robust systems, compliant processes, and a high-performing workforce that enables delivery of the organisation’s mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- a. Develop and implement a Corporate Services Strategy aligned with the organisation’s strategic plan and transformation agenda;
- b. Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Executive Management on corporate governance, organisational effectiveness, and resource optimization;
- c. Ensure alignment with public-sector governance frameworks, statutory requirements, and best-practice corporate management standards;
- d. Lead development and implementation of human resources strategies covering workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, talent development, succession planning, and retention;
- e. Drive organisational development initiatives, including change management, culture transformation, leadership development, and staff engagement;
- f. Manage industrial relations matters, including engagement with trade unions, staff associations, and dispute resolution mechanisms;
- g. Provide strategic oversight of financial management, including budgeting, financial planning, accounting, reporting, and treasury functions;
- h. Develop and implement an ICT strategy that supports digital transformation, data-driven decision-making, and service delivery;
- i. Oversee administrative services, facilities management, fleet management, and office infrastructure;
- j. Oversee compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Law, Public Administration, or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in Corporate Services, Finance, Human Resources, or Administration, 3 of which must have been at senior management level.
- The successful candidate should be competent in Financial management, Human Resources and Industrial Relations, ICT Systems, Governance, Risk management, Public-sector compliance.
- The candidate should also demonstrate strategic leadership, integrity, sound judgment, stakeholder management, and execution discipline.
