Reconnaissance Energy Botswana, (REB) a subsidiary of ReconAfrica (RECON) – a Canadian oil and gas company, is expanding and has an opportunity for an experienced enthusiastic Director Government & Stakeholder Relations to join our dynamic and fast-growing team on a full-time contract basis. This position is well suited to an individual looking to add value to our Company as well as advance their career in Government & Stakeholder Relations, gaining hands-on experience while being a key team player.
Position Summary: The Director Government & Stakeholder Relations will actively engage with the relevant governmental bodies, stakeholders and NGO organizations to process and pursue all government relations transactions and to represent REB and RECON and its employees accordingly.

- Strategize and actively engage with Government, local Authorities, and NGOs
- Proactively research and be made aware of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Anticipate and engage at an early stage, both the Cabinet and Parliament, as well as the necessary Committees.
- Formulate informed opinions as to best approach when strategizing.
- Comprehensively report and track all meetings and engagements.
- Supply strategic input as to the best integrated approach with cross ministry work.
- To be actively involved in the ongoing projects with the team, in addition to updates and queries.
- Engage holistically with the REB and RECON team.
- Provide support to media and communications team.
- Establish Stakeholder engagement strategy and plans as required.
- Foster relationships with governments especially line ministries.
- Understand and establish a strategy on engaging all stakeholders.
- Assist with oversight of stakeholder mapping and regulatory requirements scope of work with 3rd party contractor for EIA and other license requirements.
- Additional duties may be issued from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role;
- Bachelor’s degree in Government Relations or related field;
- Be a team player with the ReconAfrica team;
- Strong organizational skills and must be detail oriented;
- Be willing to travel for meetings when and where required in Botswana and otherwise when required;
- Ability to multi-task and independently problem solve;
- Open to change and willing to learn new skills;
- Ability to follow up on pending issues and able to meet deadlines;
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction;
- Botswana Citizen; and
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
