Key Responsibilities

• Drives heavy duty vehicles exceeding 3500kg maximum weight (for non-articulated vehicles) up to 16000kg maximum weight including trailer.
• Drives all non-articulated buses above 3500kg.
• Supervises one or more vehicle attendants.
• Drives vehicles, taking particular care to adhere to National Roads Safety Code.
• Performs pre-trip inspection and ensures that the vehicle is roadworthy.
• Performs routine maintenance, which includes removal and fitment of tyre, washing vehicles and ensuring that tyres are inflated to the correct pressure including the spare wheel.
• Ensures loading of authorized loads, the security and safety of loads being carried and safe loading of their vehicles at destinations.
• Ensures that the logbooks are maintained at the start and end of work period and that all trips undertaken are authorized and entered into the logbooks.
• Undertakes any other duties as required to meet the exigencies of the service.

Requirements

• To be considered for the appointment to this position, candidate must have a minimum of Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)/Junior Certificate (JC), should be possession of Class “C” and “D” (for trucks and buses respectively) and PrDP.
