Daily duties include supervising electrical maintenance teams, coordinating shutdown planning, ensuring compliance with Botswana's Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act, and troubleshooting critical equipment failures. You will also manage spare parts inventory, liaise with contractors, and report on key performance indicators to senior management. Safety audits and incident investigations form a regular part of the role.

How does workplace culture and management style typically function in Botswana's mining industry?

Botswana's mining sector maintains a hierarchical structure with strong emphasis on safety-first culture and respect for authority. Punctuality, formal communication protocols, and adherence to documented procedures are expected. Many operations employ expatriate and local staff together, so cross-cultural sensitivity and teamwork are essential for success.

What career progression opportunities exist for Electrical Coordinators in Botswana's mining sector?

Progression typically moves toward Electrical Superintendent, Engineering Manager, or Project Manager roles depending on your technical and leadership development. Many mining employers provide housing allowances or camp accommodation, transport assistance, and performance bonuses. Specific benefits vary considerably by employer and should be confirmed during the offer stage.

What do employers in Botswana look for when hiring Electrical Coordinators, and how should I apply?

Employers prioritize demonstrated leadership experience, strong safety records, and familiarity with mining equipment such as crushers, conveyors, and processing plants.
