Provide strategic and technical leadership for the engineering function, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective maintenance and availability of earthmoving and support equipment in line with Botswana mining legislation and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance, reliability, and lifecycle management of mobile equipment.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Oversee major rebuilds, overhauls, and commissioning
- Manage workshops, mobile maintenance teams, and technical staff
- Ensure compliance with the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act.
- Enforce HSE systems, statutory inspections, and mine client standards
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
- Manage engineering budgets, spares, and procurement
- Liaise with mine site management and regulatory authorities
- Prepare technical, safety, and compliance reports
Requirements
- BEng (Honours) Degree in Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering.
- Registration with ERB with current practising licence a must.
- Minimum 12-15 years post-graduate experience.
- Project Management Certification – PMP, a prerequisite.
- Maintenance Certification, e.g CMRP, a prerequisite.
- Proven fleet management experience (CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of open-pit mining operations.
- Understanding of Botswana mining legislation and HSE standards
- Valid driver’s licence
