Job Title: FINANCE MANAGER

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Manager leads the finance department, ensuring sound financial management, compliance with insurance regulations, and accurate reporting. The role provides financial insight to support strategic decision-making while maintaining strong controls, efficient processes, and stakeholder confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring effective financial controls and processes.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable functions, including oversight of vendor relationships and payments.
  • Liaise with brokers, reinsurers, suppliers, and service providers to support smooth financial operations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and ratio analyses.
  • Work with IT service providers to resolve system issues and ensure the reliability of accounting applications.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including bank and petty cash reconciliations.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and monitor financial performance against approved plans.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting qualification such as Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of relevant accounting/finance experience and a minimum 5 years in a senior finance role in short-term insurance or a related financial services sector.
  • Exposure to budgeting, financial reporting, reinsurance accounting, payroll, cash management, and statutory compliance is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of short-term insurance accounting principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Sound experience in payroll management and preparation of reinsurance bordereaux.
  • Good working knowledge of statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of reinsurance treaty structures and their operational and financial implications.
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, including the CEO, Board, and internal and external auditors.
  • Solid understanding of insurance legislation, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
