The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting transactions, and supporting sound financial decision making. This role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The officer works closely with management to monitor financial performance, control costs, and maintain effective internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable.
  • Manage payroll processing and statutory deductions.
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Assists with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Responsible for directing internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning and reviewing subordinates’ work.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process.
  • Provide financial information and support to management as needed.
  • Responsible for calculating net salaries considering deductions and withholdings.
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll and tax documents are accurate.
  • Managing general ledger and payroll files.
  • Preparing accounting files, records, and schedules.

Requirements

  • AAT/Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent.
  • 5 years Professional experience in financial accounting Payroll administration.
  • Membership of a Professional Association will be an added advantage.
  • Finance and Accounts management in the mining environment.
  • Cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Use of accounting and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
  • Internal controls and risk management.
