The Front of House Manager is responsible for the management, supervision and co-ordination of all front of house activities and staff members. The role is responsible for ensuring all front of house duties are delivered efficiently and in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with regulations. The Front of House Manager ensures that the Front of House delivers efficient customer service and creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily bookings and ensure assigned rooms are prepared prior to guest check-in.
  • Promptly address guests’ requests, enquires, problems. Liaise with the Camp / Lodge General Manager to coordinate guest itineraries and resolve any issues.
  • Coordinate with other department to ensure all guests experience the unique “WOW” experiences designed for the camp.
  • Ensure special guests, like disabled people, elderly, children and VIPs, receive personalized and appropriate services.
  • Hosting guests during meals to ensure excellent service and consistent attention to detail during all services provided to guests.
  • Observe meal preparation and service paying close attention to the presentation of meals from the kitchen.
  • Provide feedback to the Head Chef / Sous Chef on observations.
  • Coordinate food and beverages for special events with the kitchen.
  • Ensure that all meal and beverage services are properly coordinated and adhere to standard operating procedures and regulations
  • Resolve guest complaints efficiently and effectively
  • Make sure that the kitchen is always adequately briefed on changes to guest schedules or matters which would affect kitchen preparation and service.
  • Make sure all waiters and bar attendants are aware of guest allergies and preferences and adhere to these.
  • Ensure that all housekeeping and laundry service staff adhere to the company standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for safety of all front of house staff and guests while in the lodge, on activities and at the airstrip.
  • Ensure that all front of house stock levels meet the camp’s needs and that there is always adequate stock including cleaning equipment and supplies, guest amenities, linen, towels, etc.
  • Ensure all guests receive safety briefings and sign indemnity forms in accordance with company procedure
  • Ensure guest safety at all times including making sure guests are escorted to and from their rooms in non-daylight hours.
  • Liaise with Doctor or Nurse for medical emergencies or treatment in camp guided by the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Ensure all month end procedures are carried out and reports submitted in accordance with deadlines. This includes stock takes, staff shop invoices, wages sheets, etc.
  • Complete and submit lodge / camp activity diaries daily
  • Ensure bi-monthly banking of any income received at the lodge is done on time and accurately.
  • Monitor stock receipts and invoices and ensure that all administration and controls relating to inventory are adhered to. Undertake periodic reviews and inspections to confirm compliance.
  • Monitor inventory consumption to manage costs and prevent wastage. Take necessary action to ensure that consumption levels and costs are contained within budget.
  • Proactively resolve issues/conflict within the team or between the team and other departments. Always maintaining a professional, un-biased, position
  • Provide leadership and direction to all front of house staff. Lead by example in terms of professional conduct and appearance, hosting of guests and carrying out duties and responsibilities.
  • Undertake periodic performance reviews in line with company policies.

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a management role within the hospitality or tourism industry.
  • Prior experience in Front of House Hospitality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver high-quality Food & Beverage service.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel and Planner).
