Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) invites applications from suitably qualified, visionary leaders to drive its transformation as a competitive commercial power utility in the region. To plan, organise, direct, control, coordinate and manage power infrastructure assets (generation, transmission and distribution), including maintenance across the Corporation.
Key Responsibilities
- The role aims to maximise system availability, reliability, and safe operation of assets in a cost-effective manner. It provides asset management frameworks, systems, and processes to optimise the full lifecycle of the Corporation’s assets.
- The role also collaborates with operational departments and aligns asset performance with financial sustainability, tariff justification, loss reduction, fuel availability, and efficient capital deployment.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or relevant engineering field)
- Master’s Degree in Asset Management or Business Administration (MBA) is an advantage
- Relevant professional membership required
- Registration with Botswana Engineers Registration Board required
- At least 10 years post-qualification experience, including 5 years at senior management level
- Experience managing large-scale infrastructure assets in utilities, manufacturing, or process industries
- Experience implementing ISO 55001 standards (advantageous)
- Understanding of electrical power operational rules and regulations
- Proven track record in reducing losses and improving asset utilisation
- Experience aligning asset management with financial and investment strategies
